Wallups frequently asked questions

Where will my Wallups stick?
Wallups™ appliqués can be applied to walls and windows, as well as a variety of other surfaces including glass, wood, metal, or plastic. The adhesive back makes WallUps™ semi-permanent but will not leave a residue if the image is removed. Clean them easily with a soft cloth, using water and/or mild soap if required.

How ar WallUps™applied?
As you proceed, take care not to let the adhesive back touch the front of the WallUps™ or stick to itself. Do not bend or kink the image, as this will result in damage to the front surface of the appliqué. Work slowly and take care when working with corners, as vinyl may stretch or tear if the lining is removed too quickly.

  • Cut around each individual appliqué, leaving a 1" border of the backing paper around the image.
  • Lay face down and peel the backing down 6-8" from the top of the image.
  • Fold and crease the backing paper.
  • Position image as desired and press exposed adhesive to the wall or other surface. Slowly remove the remaining backing and press WallUps™ onto your surface as you go.
  • Complete the adhesion and smooth out any air bubbles by gently rubbing the surface with a soft cloth. If any air bubbles remain, poke them with a small pin to release the air and press to flatten.

How Do it Remove my WallUps™
?
Appliqués are semi-permanent and can be removed with minimal effort and without leaving a residue. If you are unhappy with the placement of your WallUps™, begin peeling at a top edge of the appliqué and gently work your way down, taking special care with corners. You may want to re-stick the WallUps™ to their backing papers to avoid accidental contact between the adhesive surface and the front. Once your WallUps™ are completely removed, you can reposition and reapply as desired.

Further Application Tips
If your WallUps™ do not adhere well to a rough or glossy surface, or the edges curl after a short time, you can increase the adhesion with the use of a product called Super77 by 3M. It is a spray adhesive and can be found at most discount retailers and home improvement centers. Take care not to get spray adhesive on the front of the WallUps™, as it will leave a sticky residue.

Apply WallUps™ appliqué to the wall following above Applying Your WallUps™ instructions.

Spray Super77 adhesive into a disposable paper or plastic cup or bowl.

Lift the peeling edges of the sticker and brush adhesive on the back with a disposable 1/2" or 3/4" flat brush.

Remove excess adhesive from the wall or your brush with a product such as Oops! or GooGone, being careful not to touch the front of the appliqué, as damage may occur.

For more permanent adhesion, use wallpaper paste. Following the instructions on the label, apply an even layer of paste with special attention to the edges. Take care to keep paste from touching the front of the WallUps™. Clean off excess paste with a soft, wet cloth while you work, as dry paste is very difficult to remove and may leave unwanted glossy spots.

If your project requires a completely permanent adhesion, you can use the 3M product Hi-Strength 90 and apply it in the same manner as Super77. Please note: Hi-Strength 90 is a truly permanent adhesive and can only be removed with great effort. Removal may result in damage to appliqué and application surface.
